how long would you last....

Im thinking of having a complete break from the internet for a while.... i dont use it often apart from fb and a few groups i go on and to look for work ..oh and i check the bank sometimes or shop very occasionally. i think i could very easily switch it off and not bother with it for however long.... how long do you think you would last without it?

Well, I have gone without when I've been on holidays for a week or two, like
last month. Of course it means that I am unable to share the bounty of my wisdom with the poor people of AB, but they'll just have to cope... my emails are full to bursting, but about 80% of it is advertising and stuff, not much personal contact, and I nev er get anything urgent.

So... yeah... I can manage. But at home I use it a lot for shopping, researching stuff and so on. So I'd hate to lose it forever.

Can't imagine what it would be like.
But realistically, we're only a solar flare away from this event. Could happen at any time.
So the real question then becomes - if it all crashed, how quickly could it be fixed?

wow that would be disastrous (sp?) mosaic.... my ears would fall off listening to my son whinge about it lol..... no idea how solar flares work but wouldnt they damage beyond repair?

i couldnt imagine not having internet when i used it a lot sue but now i just dont bother with it too much

In my personal life, I'd miss emails ....but there's always the telephone and snail mail.

years. i only use it for this and to research my quiz hobby. i don't bank on line or shop on line at all. i could easily dump this and do my research in the library

I could happily go without the internet...except some of the people I've became friends with. Most of the people I've come to care about I have their numbers...but I'm not keen on talking on the phone.

LOL ummmm... i agree with you about not liking talking on the phone...i think if it wasnt for using the internet to talk to people i care about then i could quite easily get it cut off....

I rely on Skype for contact with my kids and grandkids who are around this glope....Canada ..Switzerland...and London....I'd hate not to see them two or three times a week......apart from that it's interesting but could manage ok without it..;-)
