That news will certainly make Alex Salmond think twice now.

'But don't be vague', does that include all Whisky Mr Hague?

Why would we? We don't promote Irish whiskey or French brandy.
I'm don't think Scotch sales would suffer too much though.
Those Scots seeking independence are fully aware that they will be responsible for themselves - that's exactly why they want it!
mr hague may have a valid point, but it all smacks of petty childishness.

play the game by our rules or we'll take our bat home.....
that is only embassies, and why would Scotland worry about this, it's massive business all around the world.
How childish can you get? All this nah nah nah nah nah naaaaaahhhhhhh.....
As if the reputation of Scotch would rely on the Westminster Government giving it publicity!
We would probably sell more bottles of whisky if Mr Hague did not lend a hand promoting our whisky industry
To be fair, I suspect it's the Mail making a childish point out of it rather than Hague. It looks like they've picked up on some matter of fact throwaway sentence he said in a speech and concocted a whole 'ner ner ni ner ner' story out of it.
Reading between the lines I think Hague is pointing out that we spend millions pomoting trade from the UK and if Scotland was independant they would have to pay their share of it. Its not just Whiskey but all their trade and very importantly tourism . Scotland is massively promoted by all our agencies and that would go or they would have rightly to pay for it.
I digress but I think they are mad to want to break away but it would help our unemployed because thousands of Scots are employed in our public services which were relocated there and these would be brought back here.
We get £billions from tourism to the UK, which is probably the route of Hagues idle threat. The tourist will come here whether England and Scotland have a different tourism campaign. I don't think Scottish Whiskey relies much on the English promoting it. If the drunken English yobs abroad are anything to go by, the further the Scottish Whiskey Industry keeps a great distance from them the better.

Yet another anti-English post from Gromit.

When it comes to drunken yobs abroad, they are not on there own, when it comes to drunkenness, the Scots and Irish can show the English a thing or two, the only difference being the English don't get so violent.
You are kidding, right?
Another pointless thread with nitpicking retorts from the lectern I fear.
It's anti-Scottish sentiments like yours which only add grist to that numpty
Salmond's mill! FYI only 23% of Scots want independence. Futhermore, to say that the Scots/Irish can show the English a thing or two about violence
need I mention the recent riots down south, none up here, not just the first time for rioting either was it? Why were English teams banned from European football? So far you've spouted the same old tired cliches that Scots are drunken yobs given to fighting for nothing. Take a closer look at some of your streets especially a weekends. Binge drinking, and violence is not confined to Scotlands streets take a look closer to home!

While on the subject of football violence and alcohol abuse:

Dont think Grommit is anti English as he/she can't even spell the national drink right, it's Whisky or Scotch. I live in Scotland and all this row is doing is driving a wedge between the English & Scottish. I know a minority of Scots passionately want independence but as has been proved recently in Europe, united we stand divided we fall. Eck is very good with the rhetoric but as of yet all he has done is take money from Westminster to subsidise freebies to his followers. As any sane person will tell you this can not carry on forever, thats why Europe is in such a state, look at Greece where tax paying is optional but the Greeks all want subsidised pensions so they car retire at 40. Whats been quite an eye opener is the amount of English people who say they want Scotland to go it alone, I would like to hear the the Scots reply to being voted out of the United Kingdom by England the Claymores would be rattling!
As usual, any disgraceful yob, hooligan, murderer or pissed up tourist is fine with AOG as long as they are white and English.

The reason the country is in such a state is because of apologists like you.
The Wail hype.....shyte stirring for the sake of it.

Why do you believe this toss, AOG?

Let the silent majority decide asap and send that twatt Salmond packing. The strong majority of Scots do not want independence - that is why AS is trying to push for DevoMax
"..the only difference being the English don't get so violent"

So, here's the Tartan Army in Paris marching and singing:

The 'Old Firm' video, for the ignorant and uninitiated, is at least 30 years old. The above two examples are far more recent.
