These two pieces of lowlife have been given 10 years for trying to blow-up a mosque causing over £50,000 worth of damage.

One an Ex-Soldier was also reported to be once a BNP and EDL member, maintained that it was committed in retaliation for the Muslim poppy burning.

I do not in anyway condone what these two have done, but what I do question is the length of their jail sentence, this of course is not in the least excessive taking into consideration what they had done, but compared with the the light sentences metered out to others and some of those rioters it all seems rather unbalanced.

/// Ch Supt Bernie O'Rielly, from Staffordshire Police said "The community around this area have been an absolute credit. They've acted with such restraint and so dignified in the face of such provocation." ///

Why is it that the 'community' are always praised in such a way, when other more balanced members of the public than these two, take no action against poppy burners, troop insulters etc.?

...some more "rabblerousing"...sigh!!
Riiiight. Those who burn poppies should get sentences like those who blow up buildings. Wake up idiot.
And insulters. That should be punished by death. @@
Yes - when military courts hand out 18 months to soldiers that stab a child seeing a civillian court hand out 10 years for trying to ow up a mosque must come as a bit of a shock.

I wonder what a Court Marshal would have given them - 6 points on their driving licenses perhaps?
What was the sentence for burining down the furniture shop, ano? If it was much less, then I agree that there shoud be more consistency in sentencing. Are you making teh point that because muslims were involved then the jail term was too big?
<<Why is it that the 'community' are always praised in such a way>>

Always? Always?

Whenever they are threatened by bomb-wielding, violent extremists?

Or just when a senior police officer thinks people have responded well to extreme circumstances?

<<when other more balanced members of the public than these two, take no action against poppy burners, troop insulters etc.? >>

How else would you expect <balanced> people to behave toward idiots whose behaviour is insignificant unless it succeeds in provoking response and when we have a legal system to deal with any actual law-breaking?
Arson carries a possible term of imprisonment of 14 years......so I'd say these buffoons should be rather grateful for the porridge they were handed.
But yes it does seem disproportionate

Bilal Abdullah tried to blow up a Glasgow Airport with a bomb and he got 32 years

So why should someone who tried to blow up a mosque get 10?
The max sentence is life imprisonment here.

I seem to remember the public was praised in thwarting the Glasgow Airport bombers. One even became a bit of a celebrity.

The poppy burners are idiots and provokers. They want publicity and notoriety. The best thing we can do is make sure they don't get it. We should not give them the satisfaction of letting them upset us. We should post about them because they are irrelevant. That is not to excuse what they do, but to make sure their inciteful deeds to not suceed.
Its the garbage they give out in some of these mosques that need eradicating.
Most of our home grown terrorists were brainwashed there.
We should *not* post about them because they are irrelevent.
Beso, "Those who burn poppies should get sentences like those who blow up buildings". Who suggested that?.

AOG's question regarding sentencing is a reasonable one and a serious matter currently under review by relevant organisations trying to establish consistent and proportionate approach to sentencing,
They could have said that they weren't used to drinking alcohol and maybe got off lightly.
No justice if you are white or christian

You being a prime example, would wish that upon yourself, would you?
Isn't the crime considered much worst when a member of the security forces is involved?
