It seems the folly of the Euro is finally comming home to roost. Should we let it die and hope the Eurozone reverts to something based on economics?

We shouldn't prop it up and we should be given a referendum on Europe and our continued presence, I think it's costing the UK Taxpayers too much money
Would they prop up the pound, definately not. They could have easily done on Black Monday when Major had to concede defeat and leave the exchange rate mechanism (ERM). Let them stew in their own juice!
Lol - at what point do you think the UK would prosper when all loans from EU banks were called on on the day of the Euro collapse? That same day, all debts to British banks would be destroyed through devaluation, also the UK would lose the largest share of its export markets (yes temporarily but I'm sure the factory workers won't mind 6 months between pay packets.
Getover it guys - the UK and the Euro are inextricably linked and the UK cannot afford to see it fail unless it's a very carefully controlled slow drop over many years. But that's not what you're talking about, is it?
Hang on ....

Greece is in trouble (they use the Euro, we don't) yet we are asked to bale them out.

UK is in trouble (we use Sterling, they don't) yet no one is helping us out.
We shouldn't, but true to form I daresay we will. We'll end up paying out for the likes of Greece, Portugal, Italy and the other prospective EU defaulters, just like we did in the Irish bailout.

Good old GB, the gift that just keeps on giving....
No we should not!..........let it die!.........
"UK is in trouble (we use Sterling, they don't) yet no one is helping us out."

We should have joined the Euro then shouldn't we?? :-)
We still have obligations to the IMF which will be called in if the current euro negotiations fail.

Why? We'll still end up bailing out the others whether we were in it or not! LIke I said, a soft touch that gives to every hard luck cause there is, even when we're not directly involved.
Are we being asked to bail out the Euro? Aren't the Eurozone countries doing that? If Greece defaults on its loans, British banks will suffer, and some may need bailing out again by the taxpayer. To pay for those bailouts will involve more cuts and more unemployment here.
Of course we're going to help out somehow Gromit, by the tone of Dodgy Dave's 'you help a neighbour out when their house is on fire' soundbite yesterday.
British banks would be in trouble (again) because they've made bad loans (again) to Greece. They're not in all that deep, compared to French banks, but don't imagine a continent-wide depression would somehow leave Britain untouched..
When I ponder the Euro, I can't think of one positive...only negatives. It's hard to support something like that. It's not obvious what's good about it.
