12 years? Are they serious? He'll be out in 6. It has cost millions to track and surveil him for 6 years. Couldn't MI5 and MI6 seen to it that he befell a nasty, freak accident whilst in Lithuania?

They probably could have, but then they may end on Panorama in a few years.
"He'll be out in 6." Really?

Under the Lithuanian Penal Code custodial sentences in excess of 10 years do allow for conditional release after a minimum of 2/3 time served unless for very serious crimes (e.g. rape, murder) when the minimum is raised to 3/4 time served. However in cases tied to terrorism conditional release does not apply, i.e. 12 years means 12 years incarceration.

That being said the 12 years does include the 3 years of pre-trial detention already served so the sentence will conclude in 2020.

Lithuania has a somewhat spotty record in regard of prison conditions and intermittent brutality towards prisoners.
"Lithuania has a somewhat spotty record in regard of prison conditions and intermittent brutality towards prisoners." In this case, good.
