Basildon Council, regarding Dale Farm, and after listening to one woman bleat on about police brutality, their rights, and that fires will be set outside Parliament, are they finally going, at least from the illegal part of the site, i wonder.

have been watching the evictions live, i find the whole thing very sad :(
-- answer removed --
im watching bits of it and wondering where all the men are.
Question Author
The men won't be anywhere near by, leave the women with the children looks better on the tv news, much more sympathy that way. Indeed why has it dragged on for so long, the council must be glad that its almost over, or is it?
Very sad? I find the whole matter disgusting.

i have been witnessing the 'loony left brigade' on the scaffolding structure, and the police's feeble action in trying to get them down.

Why are they not employing a platform tower, it is a much safer way instead of putting they own lives at risk trying to get these idiots down.

As for these female at the top of the A frame, she deserves everything she get, at the end of the day she will be playing on her femininity to gain support from the public.

With all the police time and other costs this action has created, when they finally get these activists down they should be charged and finally receive the same harsh treatment that the recent rioters and looters received.
they have been given offers of alternative accommodation, I think the police are being very patient.
Women (mainly middle aged/older women) are being put forward for the interviews becaue by compalng that they have been pushed over by police.
I haven't seen any young children around. There were quite afew youths/men wearing black hoodies who seemed to be holding big pieces of fencing to keep the police back.
I couldn't work out why the woman protester who set fire to a caravan was referring so much to the problems of Palestine.

Anything to throw bad light on the police, and i do think the council has been very patient, it's been 10 years after all. As to the hooded youths, perhaps they are some of the dingbats who fess up at every march, rally, hoping they can goad the police into retaliation and cause a riot.
Not many men about because the majority of 'em are working abroad.

These are not poor caravan dwellers the caravans are top of the range luxury caravans, & their cars are in the £20.000 - £50.000 bracket.

Question Author
Its something i wondered before, where do they get the money for such high quality goods, the caravans aren't tatty, nor many of the vehicles they drive, and the bloke who paid £100,000 for a parcel of land, tell me where you get that kind of money if you have no job, visible means of support.
shortstraw,re your reply to my post," boo hoo anne " please do not assume i am taking sides in this issue, but i do find the pictures ive been watching are very sad. its so awful that it has got to this stage !
Already it seems there have been accusations about police brutality.

When are these trouble makers going to realise that if you play with fire you are liable to get your fingers burnt?

Regarding the scaffold problem, why don't the fire service send in an aerial water tower, which would spray a constant but steady stream of water over the top of the scaffold?

I would think that these protesters would then soon be so uncomfortable, that they would soon come down from their very dangerous position voluntary.
Question Author
The council spokesman was speaking on the news, and said that they are trying to persuade the people to go quietly and get down from the barricades without the need for violence, not sure they are listening.
Question Author
any update, has the camp gone up in flames?
The reason there are no men there is because they are away ripping off old people with their atrocious driveway tarmacing, nicking the lead of roofs, nicking copper pipes and electricity cables and generally being scumbags of the highest order.

Still, at least these people have somewhere to go - I understand that as Vanessa Redgrave loves them so much that she is going to let them move onto her land..........
Question Author
flipflop, thats what i thought, as to Red vanessa, she has loads of money, land, she could spare some i would have thought.
I've already heard on the radio about 'police brutality' by some posh do-gooder obviously on the side of the so called travellers! It was obvious they were going to put up a fight which is why the police were called in. Where I live and where my parents live, any spare land in the last few weeks has had huge boulders placed on it at both ends, presumably to stop them moving onto it? We can't think of any other reasons.
Question Author
Notasy, perhaps it's to stop those pesky aliens from using the place to abduct folk, perhaps they should be widening their search.
They have been offered homes but refused because of course they don't want bricks and mortar that gives them an address and they are then liable to council tax etc and their names on a data base.
