Is the BBC trying to drive our children insane?

Sometimes in the mornings when setting my DVD player to record a later programme I witness children's programmes put out on C.Beebies, which seem to me to be manic and absolutely appalling; the presenters are all screaming (are they are on drugs?) to rap sounds, the colours are garish, there seems nothing to calm and stimulate a child's imagination. Should we not demand a return to The Magic Roundabout etc. and do any young parents feel comfortable allowing their toddlers to watch this stuff?

I never understood magic Roundabout (Dido aged 4yrs) LOL
Ahhh yes Magic Roundabout. Least that wasn't trippy at all was it? LOL
I never understood the Clangers.
Oh I liked the Clangers with the Soup Dragon
Rastamouse is my fave!
I don't have any children.

Kids see the same TV programmes as an adult but they interpret what they see differently. There was probably hidden innuendo in lots of stuff that I watched in the 70's and I would have been oblivious to it all. To be honest I still don't get half of what is going on in TV programmes at my current age.
Talking of innuendo what was the childrens programme that had Master Bates in it?
Urban Myth Gran!

Amazing how many people will swear blind it's true and they saw it though!
This is what I used to watch as a kid...

Not Urban Myth, it was Captain Pugwash. dirty little devil.
According to Wikipedia, it was Master Mate.
Was there a Roger the Cabin Boy on Captain Pugwash ? lol
I can't quite remember them now, but if I remember rightly they were quite suggestive.
im sure when the magic roundabout was in its heyday, there were probably many people who thought it corrupted young brains and was not a patch on muffin the mule ;)
Possibly the innuendo was supposed to be above the heads of bairns and something that might relieve the boredom for adults watching with children.
Now, the whole thing is "in yer face" with little in the way of nuances. Now Brian Cant was the most risque thing on TV in his day.
AYG ... you kill me!
ahh so the problem is that they are actually catering to the kids rather than the adults now then..?
Careful research has revealed that Master Mate was the correct name, However Pugwash had an adenoidal voice and in the sea monster episode he in fact said Master Bate

What are the programmes available to kids now? I haven't a clue ..
