At last the BBC admits it was Left-Wing bias.

It would appear that they were afraid of raising 'sensitive issues'.

/// Sensitive or ‘taboo’ subjects such as immigration were avoided by the BBC for fear of being too right-wing, the corporation’s director-general admitted yesterday.///

/// Mr Thompson added that the BBC had a duty to address ‘sensitive and difficult’ issues a ‘significant proportion’ of the public wanted to hear about.///

That is except some ABers, who detest anyone who dares to raise these issues.

We don't detest *anyone* raising these issues, AOG.

And as long as we have you here to raise them on a daily (mail) basis, they will never be far from our thoughts.....
Not so long ago the security services had the power to veto appointments in the BBC. I wonder how many right-wingers had their careers blighted by those Star Chamber tactics?
he answers your question AOG, he says it was because they didn't want to "play into what it may have perceived to be a Right-wing political agenda".
It's fair to say the liberal left is a much friendlier, welcoming, happier place to be - hence why they're calling it the comfort zone. Such right wing views can alienate people and as the BBC are in the business of attracting the highest number of viewers possible, it would serve better not to be overly provocative.

I'm not saying that's the correct approach, I'm just saying that's how I'd see their reasoning. I personally think it's healthy to hear all side of the argument.
sod all that, 407 bbc empoloyees to glasto .... ??? flip me.

Then why are the few right-wingers on AB so detested?

Please be honest and admit you would rather not have threads that oppose the immigration policy, and criticise certain religious and ethnic groups, including certain homosexual issues, posted on Answer Bank.
i wouldn't say "they" are detested, more tolerated.
Personally I was concerned about their "have your say" section where they claim if you stick to the house rules all is well. And you see deleted posts and wonder how awful that person must be to get a post deleted. Until you discover they've made the ludicrous claim that yours was also deleted because it broke the house rules, when you know full well it didn't. I concluded that the admin simply deleted any that they disagreed with and which were too convincing to be allowed to stay.

You have got to be joking, the Liberal-Left are only friendly and welcoming if one agrees with their agenda.

Otherwise the venom that they dish out to their opponents is deadly, why else are they called the 'Nasty Left'?
who calls "them" the nasty left ?

let me guess, those on the right who disagree yeah? dear god this thread is enlightening.
I can tolerate, welcome, even, people who would class themselves to be 'on the right'.
I don't doubt that there are serious grown-up discussions to be had on *all* of the topics you mention........

However, it is the relentless finger-pointing at all minorities; the blaming of the ills of society on those most marginalised by that society and the general unpleasantness with which you seek to imbue your threads, that rankles with most, I think, AOG.
some 'lefties' may be nasty towards those who disagree with their thinking, but if it is it's directed at an individual based on their own thoughts, not a whole group of people based on the colour of their skin, the god they worship or the people to whom they are attracted.
This is a ludicrous spin, even by Daily Mail standards, on a fairly unexciting revelation.
The problem the BBC often has is not that it is "left wing" or "right wing" but that it is paranoid about appearing either. Sometimes this means that it avoids issues at times or treads too delicately. The BBC upset Palestinian campaigners a few years ago by refusing to run an appeal for Gaza, for fear that the usual suspects would claim it was a bunch of anarcho-Muslim fundamentalists. I suspect the Daily Mail didn't kick up a fuss about that at the time. In fact the Daily Mail accusing the BBC of bias is a foul hypocrisy.
<<the Liberal-Left are only friendly and welcoming if one agrees with their agenda.

By definition, the <Liberal-Left> and the <Nasty Left> are two different and distinct groups/labels/generalisations.

Does clear sequential thought reside in the same dying brain cells as objectivity in this Poster's mind?

/// However, it is the relentless finger-pointing at all
minorities; ///

It is not relentless, it only appears to be by some who are not accustomed to having certain groups and issues criticised, and highlighted when the need arises.

The British media dares not, The Police dares not, The Establishment dares not, and most of the 'silent majority' dares not, for fear of being 'pigeon holed' named.

It is only on blog sites such as this that one can air these sensitive issues, providing of course no rules are broken.

Are you saying that no one should criticise certain groups even if they have done wrong?

Others class it as fair game to extensively criticise almost anything or anyone, i'e Other ABers, The Monarchy, The British, Whites, The Elderly, The Military, Right-Wingers,etc, etc..

There is nothing wrong in that in a free country, but they are noticeable quiet when it comes to criticising certain groups and actions no matter how serious their crimes and actions may be.

And anyone who dares to stand up for a 'level playing field' and starts to criticise these 'non touchables' they are lampooned for daring to do so.
And again.........:o(

As a British, white, heterosexual man, the world is yours....You are one of the most privileged human beings on the planet.
And yet you seek to fill your days scaring yourself and others with the sort of politically driven nonsense in which your daily (mail) newspaper of choice delights in using to rabble-rousing.
Perhaps if you were to ask your 'pertinent questions' without your pernicious slants, ubiquitous DM link or personal comment, you may be surprised at the answers you get.
<no one should criticise certain groups>

You seem unable or unwilling to recognise the difference between intelligent and reasoned criticism and <relentless finger pointing>

Why is that do you think?
The image of AoG as a defender of all that is right and good and proper in this world is an image that is just funny.

Painting yourself as some sort of examplar of the noble, self-sacrificing and the righteous, and further as some sort of persecuted hero on here is nonsense. Others have quite rightly pointed out that you are fixated and driven by issues such as race, immigration, EC interference in our Great Country, the threat of subsumation of the english John Bull by those pesky muslims, and the danger of homosexuals - In short you are the typical Daily Wail reader ;)

Given the tone of your posts, it is not surprising in my view that you encounter robustly expressed rebuttals of your arguments - you should appreciate that, being a champion of those quintessentially english values of free speech - instead you label any contrary view as being from the "nasty" left - rot.
whatever you think of the right you don't see them wishing death on lady pensioners who dare to expose their flawed marxists ideolgy. Lefty/liberals make Ghengis Khan look like a pacifist if you dare oppose ther trendy left thinking. No one can out nasty the left when they are rattled by an argument they can't respond too.
for an example see SP gloating below!
"Then why are the few right-wingers on AB so detested"

Because you can't argue, you state your opinion and should anyone disagree with you, they are labeled a leftie. Never an intelligent debate simple name calling. Oh and your defence of the EDL that isn't right wing its extremism.

I have no arguement with Tories or UKIP but blind facism is something to be dispised.
