The 'N' word rears it's ugly head again.

There are those who (misguidedly) believe that all black people are fine with being referred to as 'n*gger' - even those black people who are culturally a million miles away from the streets of New York or Los Angeles.

There are some very stupid people who believe that the use of the 'N' word is prevalent amongst black Britons (it isn't). It would appear that this person was drunk - but is that any excuse?

Ben Douglas has behaved admirably under the circumstances (would the offender have used the same language at a bus stop in Peckham?) But Mr Douglas have named him in the story, or is it better for the name to be revealed on the notoriously gossipy fashion grapevine?

/// Be honest, AOG the above thread belonged in chatterbank.///

You should have added IMO, because that particular 'NEWS STORY' was not idle chatter, but if you do in fact follow the news, it was covered intensively by all forms of the media, so therefore I make no excuse for putting it up for debate on the News Section.

/// You post in news because it makes you feel superior and intelligent..///

I fail to see how you can see into my mind, but it would appear that maybe that is your problem, you think that I am somehow more superior and intelligent than yourself, although I have never deliberately given you any reason to make you think such things.

It would be most arrogant of me to hold those sort of feelings, i post on the News Section because I enjoy debating the news, just as I enjoy such TV programmes such as Question Time.

/// And I really do rotflmfao when you pop into chatterbank at Christmas, to wish us lesser mortals 'merry Christmas' ///

'Lesser mortals' eh? My you do seem to have an inferiority complex don't you? But perhaps you should not label the other genuine posters on chatterbank as such.

As regards wishing the posters on chatterbank 'Merry Christmas' it is what one calls 'common courtesy' since it happened to be Christmas and because I had also enjoyed some enjoyable approachers into the site over the past year.
.
But if my posts upset you so much perhaps you should go back to the 'lesser mortals' (as you describe them) in chatterbank.

But be aware I may pop in from time to time as the occasion suits me, especially at Christmas when I will once again wish everyone (including yourself) A Very Merry Christmas.
your actual questions were.......

Going out for a meal on Saturday night, and don't know what to wear?

If you knew this to be true, what would you do, that you have always wanted to?

very 'newsworthy' he he he

/// I must have missed the memo which explained that we had to submit all posts to AOG for scrutiny prior to them being placed in the News section...///

On the contrary wouldn't some of you wish to scrutinised my posts, for acceptance to the news section, in fact I obviously step on some of your toes enough for you to wish that I never posted again.

So perhaps it would be only fair now for me to have a say in what some others post?
I'd have punched the honky.............
Quite right, AOG.....it would suit me very well never to have to read any of your blinkered, bigoted bile ever again..........but I admit that it is unlikely to happen.

So, I shall simply have to content myself with holding your obvious debating deficiences and paucity of thought up for public scrutiny and ridicule.

Seems like neither of us will get what we truly want.

It's what one calls a light hearted jibe at a topical news story, to somehow instil debate and comment.

But then ???????????? No, I will not let you force me to go down that path.

Had he punched him, he may very well be reported to the police and who knows, ended up with a record!

I think he's behaved with remarkable restraint in the circumstances - not stooping to the level of the ignoramus. I am pretty sure I wouldn't have remained so level-headed. Ad to why he didn't pull him up - my guess is that he was in shock. Being faced with that kind if public abuse is pretty much jaw-dropping.

There is quite a simple solution, just don't read my posts if they upset you too much, but then perhaps that solution is too simple for even you.
I notice you didn't deny that you post blinkered and bigoted bile...........
Some US black 'music' artists use the 'N' word regularly in their lyrics

That's ok though is it?
Yes Joe - that's ok.
Thanks for clarifying

Nice double standards
this was not in the US, joeluke. Words mean different things in different countries.

sp1814, I share your conclusion that he was probably just too stunned to answer. It was entirely to his credit that he didn't just hit his critic with a chair instead, though.
I don't think it's double standards at all. Black rappers call other black rappers N!ggers......if it's ok with them....then it's ok.
I don't care if someone is black , white, green, straight , gay or even a Fluffing traffic warden....... I can not stand someone being ' precious' it really does my head in.

Name the Snag or shut up ......Ben Douglas
I wouldn't have said it's double standards. I have friends who call each other the N word, they use it in a friendly affectionate way, and don't find it offensive regardless of the friends colour that is saying it. The person in the news story didn't seem to be using it that way.
There is a world of difference between a group of 'consenting' folks agreeing to use pejorative words amongst themselves...........and having those same words foisted upon them by 'outsiders'.

The 'anonymous' fool assumed an intimacy with Mr Douglas which he didn't actually have and then compounded his mistake by increasingly crass justifications.....
Aaah, I see now,.....The 'N' word is ok for people to use 'in a friendly affectionate way' but when other people dare to use it it's classed as racist

People make rules up to suit themselves
society dictates , Joe. Do you think it ok to call a black man nigg.... er ?
So, JL, if one of your mates were to greet you with a jocular reference to your size, weight, height, sexual habits, etc........you'd be just as offended as if a stranger had said it to you ?
