Can you officially change your gender on a passport. Does any country allow such a change in their passport?

Hasn't a new law recently been introduced to allow transsexuals to do this in the UK? I don't know if the change is recognised internationally, but I would imagine that issue was taken into consideration at some stage, though with the British Government such an assumption might be premature.
I don't know about new laws, but as I understand it, you are what it says on your birth certificate, so if, eg, a man has an op to become a woman, he can henceforth be a woman, but legally, still a man, I do stand to be corrected if i'm out of date, I don't know, but I would think it would be the same for passports.
Hi again, I've been googling like crazy on this one.
The Gender Recognition Act 2004 now allows people who have actually had a sex change to change their birth certificate and have it issued in their new name and gender. They can then change all their personal documents to reflect this change.

nice one dru

Singapore allows you to change your passport and your ID card. If you went to a boys schools the certificates can be re-issued in the name of a girl's school.

Thailand does not allow a gender change on documents, although fake documents are a possibility.
