I know that A&E consultants are very difficult to find but I would have thought that they could have found one closer to home. I would be concerned about how awake this guy will be with flying half way around the world and being short of sleep. It is a strain on the NHS budget when this sort of thing happens so I hope they find a new consultant soon. Note that I haven't...

Note that I haven't mentioned (until now) that the Daily Mail has never been know to print a completely unbiased article. They never give all the facts either.

It seems a long way, but there have been reports of the doctors on call flying in GPs from Europe in the past to cover gaps in service. Seems ridiculous but there is a shortage of GPs at the moment - it's probably the same for A&E consultants, the service is under huge pressure.
