oooo you meanies... AND I am a Scot!!!!...
my binmen are on strike from 20th dec, the etiquette there is to avoid giving them a tip :)
My excuse is that I am Yorkshire born and bred - it's in my genes
It's alkl taxable now anyway and so you;re just giving them a more complicated self assessment/tax return

We have three separate paper delivery persons, mornings, evenings and weekends, so we drop off a tip at the shop to be shared between them.

Bin men i tip when I see them.

Don't have a milkman - but used to tip him when we did - I think it;s easy to take for grantedf our deloveries in all weathers - and recently it has been all weathers - and the people are often schoolies or students, so it's nice to show the Christmas spirit.
It's a pinny, not a tabard!
Get it wrong again and I'll give you a slap with my marigolds
the only tip I gave the milkman plying for trade was

"come much earlier than 9.30am"
I pay my council tax, they get paid a wage.If

If they went above and beyond the basics that they are required to do by their employer then i may consider it. But they dont.

I have no qualms about tipping, but only where tipping is due.
they already get paid to do their job, so only tip from me "if you want more money get a better paid job"

I dont think the binmen expect to be tipped mark, I seriously doubt they are going to start messing around to get even with the 98% of residents who dont tip. not to mention they would be reported to the council if they failed to carry out their jobs properly, that is what council tax pays for.
Give the paperboy and milkman a box of quality street and the binmen a case of beers as they're cheap from Asda/tesco (under a tenner)

blackmail..?
