Just read a fraction of the conspiracy that Paul Mccartney died in a car crash and was secretly replaced by a look-a-like. What a load of tosh! What do you think?

I haven't heard about this - would anyone honestly have ben able to replace someone with his talent?
replaced when? He's had the same voice since I was about 7.

It apparently started in the 60's. The rumour has it that he died in a crash and to avoid upset he was replaced by a new Paul. If you google Beatles Conspiracy you will get tons of resutls. The one page I looked at had over 300 'clues' that suggested he is dead from album covers and lyrics, etc. Some of it is interesting to read but so far fetched! Have a look.
It was quite a popular rumour in the. Wasn't there suggestion that there were hints about this on the cover of the Sergeant Pepper album and that if you [played one track backwards The Beatles were chanting "Paul is Dead".
Don't believe a word of it
The cover of the 'Abbey Road' album abounds with clues........
This story was doing the rounds in the 70s

The site I looked at had about 10 album covers and if you clicked on each one it went into detail about how that cover gave away clues of his death. Sgt Peppers contains tons according to it.
No two people could be that annoying......

I'm not suggesting it's a new story, I've just never actually looked into it before.
It's an interesting conspiracy, especially with all the after the event "clues" though chances are it was playing up to the rumour mongers(?).
The Abbey Road cover played a big part in the original conspiracy thoery - Paul was barefoot - a symbol of death in Italy, and had his eyes closed. A VW Beetle placed in the shot had the number plate 28IF - people thought it meant that Paul would have been twenty-eight if he had lived - he was twenty-seven at the time.

The facts? Loads of shots were taken of the band - including Paul is sandlles and shoes, and with his eyes open and shut - there is snothing significant in this shot being chosen for the reasons suggested.

The VW Beetle was not placed in the shot - it was owned by someone who worked nearby, nothing to do with the band - and it was parlked there most weekdays - again, nothing sinister at all.

It did keep people amused for a while though.
i think a worldwide search for a paul lookalike so good that no-one noticed, would have left some sort of evidnece
