Does anyone know how the Captain Scarlet Remake is going? I have seen a few stills from it and it looks fabulous tho sadly Francis Matthews will not be voicing Scarlet. The Computer Generated Visuals look fantastic.( Still think Alan Hansen is a dead ringer for Scarlet! )

Scarlet Digital are doing well.

There was a set-back this time last year, and episode one was re-done ( the characters had been redesgined ).

Now that the animaters are in full swing, the episodes should be turned around a lot quicker ( they build up a library of shots and animation walk-cycles etc. ).

There's a trailer here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/collective/A2860715 . It's only in Real Player (boo!), but the quality is much better than normal for Real. Click on the words rather than the icon!
There was an article about Capt Scarlet in the latest edition of FAB (the  'in house' magazine I get as a member of Fanderson:The Gerry Anderson Appreciation Society). As of last month, 22 of the 26 scripts for the new series had been written. Each episode takes 8 weeks to animate, but they are staggered, so that 4 episodes are in different stages at any one time. The planned completion date, including post production, is for end July 2005. So Carlton (who will be showing them on ITV) will probably go for an Autumn 2005 series run. Most characters remain the same, except most notably for Lt. Green, who has changed sex! Also Doctor Fawn becomes Dr. Gold. Also some of the characters 'birth' names have changed. Cpts Scarlet and Blue remain Paul Metcalfe and Adam Svenson, but Cpt Black changes from Conrad Turner to Conrad Lefkon. All the angels and most of the other captains change name as well. All the vehicles have changed as well and Cloudbase becomes Skybase. I'm looking forward to it though!

At a lecture several years ago, Gerry Anderson showed a clip from the new title sequence.  It looked fab.  I always thought it was near impossible to make a decent show out of this material for children however, as basically it's a kids show about zombies.  Plus, if Scarlet is indestructable it rather removes any suspense when he's in a tight spot.

I've just looked at the trailer for the new version and it bares no relationship whatsoever to the section Gerry Anderson showed us in his lecture, which was strong on atmosphere and suspense.  The CGI effects in the new trailer look fabulous but they are in absolute opposition to story values and character development.  I'm worried it's going to be good looking crap, rather like the recent Dan Dare remake.
