No, it's not. The standard concert flute is a C flute. An alto flute is bigger and deeper:

Thanks Saxy ... I shall tell my firend she is a numpty then ..... glad I checked or I would have booked a right fool when we go and play again next week after hardly touching our flutes for 18 years!!
