does anyone know how long a cheque takes to clear if i put it in today?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.if you put it in before 2.30 today may be the first working day, if later tomorrow is the first working day, so, if it is tomorrow, then that is day 1, then it takes 3 working days to be presented at the drawing bank and then 3 working days to clear back to your bank and then a day to show in your account, so, that would be a week on monday, but u should be able to draw on it at the hole in the wall after 3 working days but not at the counter til a week on monday
If it is a nat west cheque and you are paying it into a nat west bank account then it will only need to go through 1 clearing bank.
Think the reason you've been given different days is because when the cheque is presented to the branch if for any reason the cheque has a stop put on it ,or there are insufficient funds in the account to clear it, it can take longer.
