ok thanks anyway good name by the way i hate fish i couldnt agree more

ive been told 3 days 4 days and 7 days all by people who work in the bank arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
if you put it in before 2.30 today may be the first working day, if later tomorrow is the first working day, so, if it is tomorrow, then that is day 1, then it takes 3 working days to be presented at the drawing bank and then 3 working days to clear back to your bank and then a day to show in your account, so, that would be a week on monday, but u should be able to draw on it at the hole in the wall after 3 working days but not at the counter til a week on monday
It depends when you put it in. It's 3 working days.
You could put it in on Monday, it takes 3 days then it's available on Friday.
But if you put it in on Friday, it would take monday, tuesday wednesday and be available on the following Thursday.
If it is a Nat West cheque it won't take so long though

i put it in today at 12.00 this afternoon so when can i draw it from a hole in the wall tues? is saturday classed as a working day?
Question Author
it is a natwest cheque
No Saturday isn't a working day.
It should be available Tuesday.
Question Author
ok tuesday it is then
If it is a nat west cheque and you are paying it into a nat west bank account then it will only need to go through 1 clearing bank.

Think the reason you've been given different days is because when the cheque is presented to the branch if for any reason the cheque has a stop put on it ,or there are insufficient funds in the account to clear it, it can take longer.
Unless it's a work cheque, it will still take 3 days.

now im more confused than ever lol i was into my over draft when i put it in is that any help?
I paid a Barclays cheque into my Barclays account (not a work cheque) and drew the cash out the following day.

Perhaps it depends on the bank
Question Author
thanks for your help im off for a bath aND an early night bye bye xx
The bank was in the wrong Cathy. The cashier says how long it should take to clear, the default is 3 days. Only work cheques are cleared straight away.

It doesn't matter about your overdraft.
Question Author
it was a work cheque
Can you explain how if it is the same bank it takes the same as a different bank? The cashier told me it didn't have to go to another clearing bank only Barclays - whatever that meant.
Tomorrow then.
