so who of you will also be stood outside at 4am, in the cold, damp darkness. Ears pricked as you try to distinguish wren or willow warbler, from the almost deafening blackbird or thrush?

just me eh? lol

Well I don't sleep very well so chances are I will be but I won't be too inclined to listen to the dawn chrous. I thought birds only 'sang' when they were being aggressive anyway!
Dawn ? When is that ?
The only dawn chorus I will have ...will be the breaking of wind due to last nights curry.
Hi good! I think that's a very nice interest, back to nature & all that. I love to watch Bill Oddie in Springwatch xxx

wow! replies! lol
I love the dawn chorus, If I am up early I listen to it, its sounds nice although they make a worse racket than the bin men who treat 5am like its the middle of the day with all their shouting and swearing
So it's a hobby egg? Do you belong to any nature groups?

i never saw myself as a birdwatcher, but live and have always worked in the countryside, so its just a love and interest of whats around i guess
I was in the garden most of the day and the sun was out and the birds were singing ...it was lovely.
We have a Robin in the garden who is very tame and will perch on the kitchen window ledge ...
However I understand robins will keep other birds out of the garden ...is this true ?
Question Author
robins are aggressive and territorial, but its mostly directed at rival robins
we always have the window pen through the night and the dawm chorus has been waking me up for a few weeks now, it's wonderful, i love it!
Question Author

Maybe they are being aggressive - or territorial, at least, but it's still beautiful.
Hey goodegg,

I often hear the dawn chorus.

There is a starling around here that does a great impression of a mobile phone! The trouble is I end up awake half the night listening for him!
