Having looked into the matter a few weeks ago, it seems to be just government sponsored propaganda. Just preparing the populace for another illegal war, this time against Iran.
The masses will go along with it, just because the Iranians kill gay people.
I'm not stupid dabees, and honestly not looking for any sort of online disagreement here,.but,I'm not advocating war against Iran, merely a genuine human rights issue. It is not acceptable in any society that someone is executed for being gay.
I don't believe everything I read, dabs, on the opposite I tend to be very skeptical of the written word (I suppose that's what a degree in politics does to you!). But in the end, you can think everything is government-led, and do nothing, ever. I refuse to become this "blasee", and I will stand for things I believe are right, no matter where they are coming from. If I'm being led, so be it. At least I've spoken my mind.
I didn't post this to cause any arguments, sorry if it's turning out that way.
I just feel that no-one should be persecuted or put to death simply for being gay. I really feel for the young lad he must be so frightened.
I respect that everyone has a different opinion, and i respect Dabees for his or hers just like i respect Max & Linda for being supportive in the cause.
She isn't saying such a thing Dabs! She is merely stating her opinion, never mentionned you were wrong!
It's a petition, at the end of the day (boy, do I hate this expression!), everyone is free to sign up or not, and to NOT sign up for any other reason (ie: you think it's a hidden message condoning the arrogant show of superiority of one particular country), is as valid as anything else.
You didnt say that dabees and i was only signing a petition you advised against signing??? Sorry about this Louisa :-(.....didn't mean to start an AB arguement..not my style at all.
Louisa hun - I know you meant this in the best way. It's absolutely terrible to think that people are still persecuted in this way, but it's not just gay people. I think that people in other countries should be left to get on with their practices - however abhorrent to us. To them, with their barbaric and ancient laws, it seems awful to us - but over there, things like this ARE frowned upon. I have every sympathy with that poor guy. More's the pity he had to be born in such a place.
