The UK singles charts began in Nov 1952. The 9th chart topper was Frankie Laine "I Believe". It got to No1 in mid April 53 and spent 9 weeks at the top. It was replaced for 1 week by "I'm walking behind you" by Eddie Fisher featuring Sally Sweetland. "I believed" returned for 6 weeks before Mantovani replaced it with "Moulin Rouge" just for the 1 week. Frankie Laine then returned with the song for a further 3 weeks before Guy Mitchell "Look at that girl" took over in mid September.
