Love Thy Neighbour - Jack Smethurst 1970's ?
Question Author
SOMEONE HERE AT WORK RECKONS IT IS A MAN CALLED WALTER FROM THE PROGRAMME "NEAREST AND DEAREST" IS HE CORRECT ?
Nope, it;s Love Thy Neighbour.
The character was Jacko, Eddie's drinking pal, always wore a flat cap in 'Love Thy Neighbour'. When ever asked if he wanted a drink, he gave the standard response, which has passed into pub folklore. The character was played by actor Keith Marsh. Note to JUSTO - Walter in 'Nearest And Dearest', played by Eddie Malin, was famous for never speaking at all, he simply nodded, or sat immobile, while conversation went on around him.
Thank you Andy Hughes.Ill pass the answer on to the chaps at work.
Walter in Nearest and Dearest never said anything. People (usually Hylda Baker) said "Have yer been, Walter?" If I remember right, he generally had.
