It is an instrumental arrangement of a Russian folk tune called "Korobeiniki" (with various Latin spellings), which has been covered by UK dance band Doctor Spin, US alternative rock band Ozma and Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra

Sorry to rain on your parade, Aschenbach, but you're thinking of TETRIS by DOCTOR SPIN, a UK hit in 1992.

That same year, and the tune that ramanbaby was on about, was

Artist: AMBASSADORS OF FUNK featuring MC MARIO
Track: SUPERMARIOLAND.

Tetris was two places above Supermarioland on the highest score table (the charts - six and eight respectively) ;-)
Judge Nutmeg - you wouldn't let it lie

I know I've got both songs on a Now 23 CD (the shame) but the question was ambiguous
The best rendition of it is a ska cover version with all the trumpets/ trombones etc with a reggae bassline - fantastic
