Sounds like it could be 'Televison' by the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprosy, which has a line in it 'the revolution will not be televised'. But maybe not . . .

Thanks for that one. I got another answer, "Ice dancing with Dolores", by Gil Scott Herron but I don't recognise either of them. Perhaps the lyrics are just the sort that are used often, but I would have thought I could come up with a song I know.

What about 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised' also by Gil Scott-Herron - I'm not familiar with the song, but the title makes it sound likely.
