Internet explorer won't display pictures

Hi i have aproblem with IE. When i go to certain sites the pictures are either no displayed or it comes up with a box and a red cross in the corner....any ideas I googled it and tried all the thing microsoft says and downloaded firefox but still the same.

What sites? Could just be that site has a problem and hasn't linked the images properly.
