Evening All,

There used to be a band called My Life Story and they had a fantastic song called 12 Reasons Why. I have been trying to find the lyrics to this song with no success whatsoever... none of the lyrics databases seem to have it!

Does anyone know the lyrics to this song?

(Also, is it on an album? If so, what's the albulm called?)

It'll make my day if I come in tomorrow and someone has found the lyrics!!!

Cheers,
China xx

It's on an album called "The Golden Mile" which you should be able to get on Amazon and all the usual places. I assume it's also on their Best Of which was released a while back, though I haven't got around to getting that one yet. There's also an extended version called "17 Reasons Why" which appeared on one the "Sparkle" CD singles - if you look on ebay or Gemm.com you may be able to find the 12" promo of "Sparkle" which is great - the orchestral arrangement sounds just terrific mastered to vinyl.
Oh, aparently "17 Reasons Why" is included as a "hidden track" on the Best Of CD, "Sex & Violins", though if they're going to stick that info in the press release, it surely defeats the point of "hiding" it in the first place!
17 Reasons Why was on the b-side to the next single Sparkle
oops-didnt read the answer above properly
Thanks for reminding me about 'My Life Story'! I couldn't get 'Strumpet' out of my head for weeks!
Saw them live many a time - was even there when they had the huge polystyrene numbers from the 12 Reasons video on stage and launched them out onto the audience. I remember seeing one determined fan with a huge 4 waiting for a bus afterwards on Charing Cross Road (I think!).
Woh! This is really odd.

I had "Up The Down Escalator" running through my head on the way home from work this very evening. (Which is a very old MLS number, and not even thought about for years).

Can't remember the title of the one that said "there's a hundred and forty pounds of boy energy waiting to explode...."

You're either from Southend, Quizmonkey, or you know Jake !!
Bloody hell, kempie!!

and there's me nearly waking up the missus digging out this to scan. (sorry about dodgy Metro background - just to show it's not a stock image that I just G**gled).

The other side is here
Of the 500 copies pressed, which number is that brachi?

Thank you all so much for your answers.... especially Kempie for the lyrics. I really didn't hold out much hope of anyone knowing what I was talking about!

I actually went on Amazon and brought the best of album but noticed that The Golden Mile was on there for sale for 50, apparently it's become something of a collectors item.

Is it true they're still performing under another name?
Frontman, Jake Shillingford formed a new group with My Life Story's orchestral arranger Aaron Cahill called Exile Inside. For more information and retrospective thoughts on My Life Story, visit www.exileinside.com

Also My Life Story occasionally reunite, and they are performing a show this Christmas at The Mean Fiddler in London on Friday December 8th.

Really?! Do they have a website? Where'd you get tickets?
Question Author
Doesn't matter... found it and got tickets! Thanks for the heads up Leo... am now very excited!!!
Brachio - curious about your comment! I'm not from Southend and though I've met Jake a couple of times I wouldn't say I know him!

Didn't know about the December gig - will def be going. Shall we all meet up? :)
Question Author
Yeah definately, that'd be cool! Be silly not to if we're going to be in the same place.

In fact I think we all should. Anyone else up for it? Few beers and some good music sounds like fun to me? We can have an AB My Life Story fan club meeting!
kempie - no. 355 (used to have 356 aswell - but that went with the ex !)

Quizmonkey - aforementioned ex was from Southend, and her sister was going out with Jake at that time (mid-late 80's) They all lived around Southend / Rayleigh at the time.

An AB-MLS meet sounds good! But how will we recognise eachother? Will we all have to wear orangey-brown clothing and have three red stars in our buttonholes? !!
Question Author
Good point Brachi.... Erm, could all clutch copies of the metro?! Roses in the button hole? God knows... I've never been to the bar so don't know if there's a particular table near the door or something. All ideas welcome!

I'm afraid I don't have an email that I could pass on!

Hmmm.... Anyone still following this thread? I very much doubt it but if so.... [email protected]
