Goodness gracious. I hate it how people try to make movies based on books! The books are so wonderful but the movies are awful. For example: The third Harry Potter movie was horrible! They left out tons of important parts! How do you feel when people make a bad movie based on a book?

Mostly annoying although the Shawshank Redemption was such better than the book!

The Da Vinci Code missed out loads of the good parts of the book - I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it but why miss the brother part out at the end?

Harry Potter 4 was much better - 3 is the worst of the lot so far
if they included everything, the film would be about 15 hours long....
I saw a black and white film of A Town Like Alice a couple of weeks ago and couldn't believe that it finished when it did - there was still about a third of the book to go and as it ended when it did the title wouldn't have been explained (that's in the latter part of the book).
I do enjoy the film The Wizard of Oz though, but they altered so much of the story that the film is only loosely based on the book.
Depends on the adaptation: The Lord of the Rings movies were wonderful, the books tedious (IMHO). As for HP, at least the movies didn't have that dreadful page-filling subplot about SPEW.
I love the film adaptation of 'The Color Purple'. Whoopi Goldberg as Celie was just perfect, and the entire film was wonderful (in my opinion, anyway!). Also, I'm a big fan of Stephen King's books, but some of the film adaptations of his books are quite rubbish!
Some books turn out well on the big screen, it all really depends on the director and the actors, and their interpretation of it.

For instance (the good ones):

Potrait of a Lady
Silence of the lambs
A Time to Kill (most John Grisham books make good movies)
Emma, Sense and Sensibility

Not so good ones:

Pride and Prejudice
Da Vinci Code
The Beach
etc
the thing is the harry potter books are so much better than the films but i still go and see every film and still enjoy them unlike the da vinci code i loved the book but hated the film i think the ending was rubbish i dont understand why they changed it
sometimes its good when a book is made into a film but only if the film turns out good , i cant wait to see how the northern lights book turns out as a film even though it wont be out for a while
