I remember this song too, my neighbour used to play it really loudly with the windows open, and the only line I can remember is "my little Rosie all crushed on the track". This would have been in the early 70s. I can't find any trace on the internet, but have wondered for years who the song was by.

I found this by Red Sovine - I wonder if it the same song?

listen kags, you've saved my brain, that's the song. not quite how i remember it though, but i was very young. did anybody else do a version? the one i remember was more of a talker than a sung song. but listen, you did me a great favour. thanks.....
I must agree, the one I remember was more of a talker as well, I reckon someone else must have done the version we remember.
as far as I know nobody else did this song. That was Red Sovine's style. All his stuff was like that and very sad. Had his album years ago(on vynyl) don't know where it is now.My husband used to drive us all crazy on journey's in the car with his tapes. We'd all be in tears.

This song takes me back to Sunday mornings when I was a kid, my Dad used to play his C+W records before he went out for a pint and from what I remember, this has got to be one of the most depressing of the lot.

The version I remember is by a singer called Webb Pierce and you can download it on Limewire.

Fortunately, this early exposure to country music has not left me scarred too much.
