I remember Modern Romance - is that the one?
I don't think Mark King was in a band called Romance. There was a band called Modern Romance though. I think they had a blonde lead singer. You can find anything on www.google.co.uk including Level 42 website with links to Mark King etc.
Mark King's brother is a musician (he now plays with Level 42) but he wasnt in Modern Romance.
The lead singer of Modern romance was a bit of a dish (if you like that sort of thing!) and they did prance around alot on TOTP so i can see them appealing to toddlers.
Their big hit was Everybody Salsa!
There is a picture of him on the BBC Where are they now? mini site.

Sorry to go off topic a bit Gary, but there were two lead singers of Modern Romance. The first had a big blonde 'flicked' hairstyle, and the second was dark-haired with a moustac...

Blimey - I know far too much about that band.

Ay ay ay ay moosey! (wasn't that them?!)
I was thinking of Modern Romance too, but as gary baldy says they had nothing to do with Mark King's brother. Biggest hit was Best Years Of Our Lives, if that's any help.

Yeah and also Modern Romance were formed out of a band called the Buzzards who had a minor hit called Saturday Night Beneath the Plastic Palm Trees and the first lead singer was I think the lead singer in that band much played b John Peel in the late 70's- they were vaguely punkish. But I think youre thinking of the second lead singer who was had a blonde flick hairstle like early george Michael and probably didnt look unlike Mark King- but they were awfyl - sorry!
They were called New Romance
