Ok, i have just got an iRiver 6GB H10 colour screen mp3 player for xmas. been trying to load music onto it - naturally. but the computer won't recognise it. i have updated my media player to what it recommends, and it is supposed to detect the device once it is plugged into the USB port. but nope. it wont. no number or restarts or refreshes seems to help argh!!

When i plug it in, it comes up with the window asking what you want it to do - ie 'take no action' or 'choose files to sync' - but then disappears again and it cannot apparently see it anymore, not even in windows explorer.

please can someone help! i have been looking forwards to getting this and now it wont work :( please help!

thanks

ok.. that started well.. i hadnt thought or reinstalling it. but nope it didnt work. :(

i hav xp, service pack 2 and media player v10 and hav reinstalled media player.. reinstalled the H10.. yet it still says 'no device has been detected'!

ahh what to do???!

have you installed the software that came with it ?

did you do this before plugging the player in for the 1st time ?

once plugged into the usb port have you switched on the actual player ?

try another usb port if you have one.

pls post further info and we'll try to help some more !

ok. there is no software as such that comes with it. the only thing on the cd is Windows Media Player 10, which i have installed and is working fine.

as i said originally, it knows something is plugged in, as it asks what i want the computer to do, but moments later the icon indicating a USB device is connected disappears.

in My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager it recognises that it is there, but still the media player will not find it.

i have tried different computers as well as different USB ports, but it doesnt make any difference :(

looking on the internet, there are a number of people who are suffering from the same problem, but no1 seems to have an answer.

if i plug it in in Emergency mode - as in just acting as a memory stick - i can transfer music onto it, but it doesnt put them into the Music section, as it doesnt think music has been transferred. i can play them and everything but obviously i need to sort it out properly, as this way you cannot make playlists or anything, it simply plays all the tracks one after another.

any more ideas would be appreciated! thanks :)
