This is so vague. It's piano only, I used to think it was Rachmaninov but pretty sure it isnt now. It's kind of spiky, first heard it something like forty years ago, last heard it when a character in Brookside, who later fell down the stairs to a much deserved death, was listening to it with a glass of pre-murder wine. Can't remember the name of the character, haven't got a clue about the tune, think Mick got the blame for it though. (The murder that is.)

Dont know what you are talking about re. Brookside but i am guessing its Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2.
It was used in Brief Encounter aswell!

If you have a piano or similar, can you pick out the tune, based in the key of "C"?? If you can, I have a long out-of-print book which can decode it for you. You need to write down the note letters as far as you can get. Let me know.

I checked it out and Rachmaninov's No 2 is not the one. The peice I have in mind is more sinister than that and I think it's a solo piano piece rather than piano and orchestra but I could be mistaken. Thanks for replying though.
