… I have seen more than my fair share of classic songs butchered beyond redemption - but I wonder if anything is going to eclipse this!

I have no idea who that was trying to sing with Jagger!

A song that I prefer the cover version of is Disturbeds version of Sound of Silence.

sound effects and raincoats, that's what this always needed

>I have no idea who that was trying to sing with Jagger!

That looked exactly like Taylor Swift to me

Theland - // Rap is the result of immigrant culture.
I don't like it either. //

Wrong - rap is the result of indigenous culture, it's as American as Mom's Apple Pie.

But let's say for the sake of argument, that your observation is correct - does your dislike stem from the sound and atmosphere of rap music, or is it rooted in your dislike of immigration?

I think we may well know the answer to that Andy. If he's like this with rap, I bet he really loves Bhangra.

She's a duck?

I truly don't understand how he continues to get away with the racist diatribe. People have been banned for much less...
Like the Blues Brothers Jim, he's on a mission from God.

To be fair, Theland has made a generalisation about rap music which is wrong, and I have invited him to respond about his reason for his dislike of rap.

To say that rap is the result of immigrant culture shows a galaxy-sized ignorance of culture, immigrant or otherwise, but it is not as far as I am aware, racist.

Similarly, disliking rap without a qualifying reason is not in itself racist in my view.

I await Theland's response with interest - he is not in the habit of hiding his light so we will see what he has to say.
I half agree with Bobbi, I don't really class rap as music; it's more like performance poetry to my ears.
Come on, Andy. You're honestly telling me that racist bigotry like this is acceptable on here?

That truly was a shocker Jim.

First day of a New Year and rather than celebratory it made me feel sick.
when it comes to rapping over someone else’s song, this is perhaps the maddest example I’ve ever come across.....

(can you guess the language?)

Jim - First of all I was abroad for New Year, so I didn't see this thread. I have read it now, and I have my own views, but I am not going to get into a sidetrack by retrospectively moderating a thread from eight months ago - that would be disrespectful to my fellow Moderators who may have seen the thread - or indeed not, I don't know.

I can only moderate what I see, and I have already explained my views on this thread, and as advised, I am waiting to see what Theland has to say.
Yet he's still here! Not only that, but by leaving that thread up and the OP active, AB is sending out a very clear signal that such filth is not only acceptable but, by continuing to let him spout it, positively encouraged.
That is, possibly, the greatest example of passing the buck I've ever seen! Now to do wiv me, guv.

if you are unhappy with my explanation for my moderation, and with either this thread or the January one, I suggest you write directly to the Editor and make your views known there.

This is not the format for this argument, and its sidetracking the thread, so my conversation with you on this aspect is now completed.

Not heard that before, that is awesome!!!

You need a special level of vocal talent to carry off that arrangement - to start with every syllable carefully enunciated, build it to that incredible climax, and then end where you started.

Hats off to David Draiman, and thanks for sharing that.
