Joe McBride did a cover and an instrumental version of the Sopranos theme. On his 2002 album Keepin' It Real

and then there are these people who have covered the song....no idea if any of them are instrumentals though

One CD I've got (Exile on Coldharbour Lane) by Alabama has a track called "Woke Up this Morning" by Love, Love, Love & The Doctor. I think this is the one on the C4 series, the Sopranos, but it's definitely not instrumental, there are words in there as well. I know it's got real musicians on it, 'cos John Prine is listed for the "Speed of the Sound of Loneliness" and he's a top guy - check him out.

Just to confirm to Bravo Girl - the song by Alabama 3 (not Alabama - different band) is definitely the one from The Sopranos. Alabama 3 are simply known as A3 in the States to avoid such confusion :-)
Well spotted littleoldme, I'm impressed (and I actually bought the CD in the States as well, but didn't notice what it was filed under). I knew it was from the Sopranos cos that was what I asked for when I bought it! That particular track is also a lot longer than on the TV series, so you get more for your money !!
