Jesse Malin has got a great song about Christmas on the Fine Art of Self Destruction. So have a band called Joy Zipper. Its on their American Whip album. They were released in America a few years ago but didn't do a lot but fantastic songs about the holiday season all the same and worth a listen.

Low have a short album all about Chrstmas as well.

Though these maybe be a bit too random, as it were for a general Christmas Quiz. So I'm probably not much help.

Fairytale of New York is still my fave Xmas Song. Is that played in the supermarkets?

Yes it is but you are right-definitely the best christmas song. Here s hoping its number one this Xmas

I agree with OBonio and dr pop! And so far, it's the only Xmas song I've heard in a shop (but then I haven't been shopping much recently) - so it was nice to kick of the festive season with my favourite! :-)

What about using classical music Christmas songs - like Handel's Messiah or Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, or anything by John Rutter? For a mean question, you could use an "alternative" tune to one of the classic carols. :-)

There's an album on Amazon called 'Maybe This Christmas', with songs like 'Winter Wonderland' by Phantom Planet, 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen' by The Bare Naked Ladies and even 'Have Yourself A Merry Christmas' by Coldplay.
It's got 30 second samples, so maybe that will help? It's certainly different!
Awwwwwwwwwww, I like Slade and Wizard's crimble songs :-(
fairytale in new york is my all time favourite but i also love "white christmas"... my granddad used to sing it to me when he was alive when i was a young child

One of my faves is Chris Rea's "Driving Home for Christmas" but i guess it may well get played in supermarkets. However, he did another one called "Joys of Christmas"....this isn't so jolly though but i like it!!

Also, for more traditional sounding songs try Loreena McKennitt...she's made some excellent wintry Christmassy songs..a bit folksy but well worth the listen...

It's Clichd To Be Cynical At Christmas by Half Man, Half Biscuit.

White Christmas by Stiff Little Fingers (One of their many 'Silly Encores' gets another mention on AB)

Have to agree Fairytale of New York my fav.
you could try kevin "bloody" wilson, he has a whole repertoire of, erm, unconventional festive numbers...... on second thoughts, perhaps not!!
