My husband said tonight that Prokofiev’s ‘Dance of the Knights’ from Romeo & Juliet is, in his opinion, a perfect piece of music. Stirring, he said; enough to encourage one to fight for one’s country, he said. Got say for me it’s slightly unsettling, but there you are.

My choice would be Puccini’s ‘'Che gelida manina', from La Boheme. Goosebump central! I weep buckets every time I hear it – at live performances too – the last time at the wonderful ‘wedding cake’ of a venue that is Prague Opera House - although on that occasion I might be justified in holding the superb gin & tonic served there responsible.. ;o)

Another is Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’. I can party all by myself to that!!

For me it's the Humming Chorus from Madame Butterfly, among many others that give me pleasure.
Here you go Danny.

I know you like this then Danny.

I have just heard Copland's "Appalachian Spring" on Radio 3, not having listened to it for ages, and its currently my favourite.

But, if I had to compile a list of my other favourites, I would be here all day !
just to be pedantic, i don't think you can have 'other favourites' mikey

Just to clarify, the question isn't about 'favourites'. We've all got lots of favourites. It's about what you would consider to be 'perfect'. Faultless in composition, structure, etc.
Ralph Vaughn Williams The Lark Ascending, gets me every time i hear it.
when i listen to it i am immediately transported to a land that time has almost forgot, an England that is likely no more, if it ever was that lyrical in the first place.
The lark being an endangered species one can only hope of seeing / hearing it's beautiful song.
