My 17 yr old son has strangely asked for an old school record player for Xmas - he wants the experience of playing vinyl records rather than modern cds etc. Well I've managed to get him that but thought I'd like to get him a couple of records too. Any ideas where to look??

A record shop?

I think smow's son will want a record that's in the charts ATM.
My local CD shop, Resident Music in Brighton, has an increasingly large vinyl section.

And you can buy mail order.

I would think there are lots of similar shops. Vinyl is coming back into fashion. Not with me ... I'm too lazy ... but the serious music community love it.
If you want to check current, then here are the Vinyl Album Charts - see what he likes then get looking for a stockist.

Smow before you buy a deck or turntable ask what he will be using for an Amp and speakers. Plus what type of music does he like. More and more releases are now on the old vinyl format. I still pine for mine. If he I sgoing purely for the old dansette type record player with built in speaker and a he will not get the full monty of sound quality.

Bit late Togo.
Charity shops they have 1000s of them. Usually 50p each.
Why do the clowns have to infest technology as well? Plenty room on clutterbunk and Mews.

Haven't thought of half of this lol. He has a really varied taste in music- everything from Frank Sinatra, and Michael Buble to Eminem...
I know...fancy not spotting that she'd already bought the deck. Tut.
hmv have hundreds of vinyl records in stock there becoming popular again, catch up
My wife bought me a deck which you can transfer your old vinyl onto your iPad. So you get all the scratches and clicks without the inconvenience of turning the record over!
Definitely charity shops then, you will sort through loads of rubbish but there are real finds to be had. Vinyl has not 'taken off' in charity shops yet they don't sort them out just bung them in a box for 50p each.

Plenty of that crap at the car boot (other crap is available)
