Sorry not much help but I think it goes back to year 1985--1990 and it is pleasant soul tune. Black man sings it and it start something like..'hey girl, how you been' blah blah blah then i think he says ' since the time you went away'  and then the chorus has.'feel the need, feel it baby..the need in me' somewhere in the tune he sings ' I love you..woo woo wooo I jus' love you'. I just love this song and cant for the life of me remember who it was. Please help.

not sure i know of anything with those lyrics but am i right thinking along the lines of LL cool J  ? - if not a bit more description i might be able to put my finger on it.
This is driving me mad too now! I know the song you're talking about is it someone like Luther Vandross or Alexander O'Neil

Sorry folks. I know it definitely is not LL Cool J or Alexander O'Neal. I have looked under names such as Gerald Levert, Johnny Gill but it's not them. The main chorus is 'Feeeeeeel the need (background vocals then sing 'feel it baby, the need in me)...'feeeeeel the need' comes on again. I wish this website had a volume button then i would sing it to y'all...or, maybe it's just as well three is no volume button : - ) Anymore suggestions???

Hi Taggy,  It could be:  "Feel the need in me" by:

Detriot Emeralds, Leif Garrett, Nick Scotti

Hope this helps

"feel the need" by james jt taylor (1991)
