yes and it depends how big your ipod is as to how many songs you will fit on it.you will get roughly 250 songs for every 1 gig.
My MP3 is 1Gb and i get 320 songs on there
A lot of it also depends on the bit-rate of the tracks youre downloading, MP3s vary in bitrate from 128kbbps to 320kbpps (?) the higher being the better quality, but also a bigger file size, so at top quality you'd probably only get something like 150 - 180 songs per 1gb.

Yes, you can use a USB or firewire cable to download songs from itunes - both are provided in the box when you buy. Your pod also charges when connected to the pc, whic is handy. I've got a 4gb ipod mini - the spec says it holds 1000 songs - I have about 850 songs on there at the mo, and it's about 80 percent full. The higher spec pods can hold many more, but I find 1000 is fine for me - I'm happy to do a bit a bit of maintenance from time to time to delete the things I've become bored with to make room for new stuff. I've been dellighted with mine and would highly recommend it.
