Hi, i wondered if anyone could help me. i have an i-pod that has been showing the sad i-pod face and also the folder. i have tried restoring it and can put it into disk mode. When i plug the i-pod into my pc it appears and says i need to restore it. It then lets me restore it, and when i plug it into an external power supply it freezes, then when i plug it back into the pc, it says the i-pod is corrupt. Is there anything i can do, or will it need to be looked at? Many thanks in advance. x

Hi

I had the same problem about a year ago. I took it to the Apple / iPod store and they ran some checks on it and said it was dead! Sadly, the warranty ran out 1 month before I reported the problem and they said to fix it would cost as much as a new one...and they said I may aswell bin it and buy a new one!

I would go to the Apple / iPod store ASAP, if you are within warranty then they can fix it ....if not, then it might be time for a new iPod (rubbish I know, I was furious when I had to throw mine away!).

Good luck!

Oh no! I have had so many problems with this i-pod, had it replaced so many times, and even re-brought one. if anyone is thinking about purchasing an MP3 player, shop around. I-pod's may look great, but they also have many problems. Apple don't have the greatest policies either. I might seek legal advice as this is ridiculous! x
If it us under warranty - I have sent mine back using their collect and drop off service - it's very good and saves you a trip to their store.

Have you had a good look on line at their help site as it often gives you hints and tips on how to deal with a specific problem. I recently had to format mine and it solved the problem and reset the i-pod. I lost everything on it, but it's on your PC so is easily re-loaded. I'd restore it - update all the software too and reset it back to factory settings. Leave it on you PC to charge - it maybe your external power that it has a problem with. Is it working alright otherwise apart from the sad face icon ?
