What evidence do you have that she is not bothered about the poor. Also, a tad rude don't you think?

Is it spending money for her? I recall it includes bills for repairs to the roof. Have you got a link please redvanman?
Is it being so cheerful as keeps you going............?
Is this seperate from her household running costs? I remember the papers talking about this a couple months back? £36.1 million per year to keep her homes a £5m increase
Thanks Mamya, for a while I thought Her Majesty was going to fritter her pay rise away at the bookies and fill her boots with Gin & Dubonnet.

Instead it is to be wasted on maintaining tourist attractions and paying the staff who are responsible for their upkeep.

I seriously doubt all the foreign visitors cluttering up Windsor are there to visit the castle they just want an ice cream from Ben & Jerry's!

I suggest you read mamyas link'
It might, just might educate you a little,
and help you come across as a little less curmudgeonly
Throwaway remarks with no point of reference are not a good starting point for any meaningful discussion redvanman.
Didn't I read somewhere that keeping the Royal Family equates to something like 40p per person per year? Think I can cope with that.
Paul, latest figures are 63p - can't even buy a can of coke for that!

A bit much, steve. I can understand why people would rather we didn't have a Royal Family. I just wish they could criticise the institution sensibly, with correct facts, rather than the sort of ill-informed drivel of OP.

Well said Jim, agree 100%
That 63p figure is a bit of a con

It equates to the civil list

Costs like security, upkeep of non-personal residences and all sorts are excluded

The real cost all in is about five times that and the most expensive monarchy in Europe

Even then, at about £3-£4 a head it's hardly going to drag the country to its knees. TV licences are more expensive.
They're probably hoping that like MPs if they pay her a decent wage she'll stop fiddling the expenses.
Is that a sensible enough criticism for you Jim?

Maybe we could start with why our Monarchy is twice as expensive as the Dutch one or how the absence of a monarchy would affect our day to day lives!
Well I don't know about you Jim but for the cost of my Television licence I get access to hundreds of hours of some of the best documentries, drama and news in the world.

For what I contribute to the Royal familly I get - er - remind me what I get again!

A tourist industry for starters.
