Sorry flobadob, hope you dont mind:

So an alien space craft has actually been detected flying around at low level possibly looking for a landing site, what happens next? who will deal with it and how?

So they have now landed, two figure emerge from the space ship, who will deal with it? and how?

Do we actually have a plan drawn up should this actually happen in real life?

Ratter. It will be the benefit office asking for proof of their claim for social security.
dunno about the powers that be but ive got one.... it involves running and hills lol
What if the two figures were Jesus and Muhammad?
We could try and find out if they were vegetarians. If not, then run for the hills.
I can't imagine that procedures haven't been discussed in high places (no pun intended).

will a big tall silver bloke walk out first and stand there for a fortnight?
They wouldn't land in the open, of course. They wouldn't land anywhere near inhabited places. They'd land in some wooded valley, and would hastily disguise their craft.
After all, if they can reach us and we can't reach them, they are far more intelligent than we are, and they are not going to do something stupid like land where they can be immediately shot to pieces.
But Really Really intelligent aliens would send a battle fleet which would vastly outnumber the entire population of earth. Just in case.
All aircraft scrambled to bomb it to kingdom come probably
