I don't buy my Mum or my grans flowers on mother's day. I bought my Mum a cake stand which she wanted, a cake cook book and Jane Eyre DVD. For one of my grans I bought her a Thorntons hamper and bottle of fizz and my other gran I bought her a Clarins gift set and hand lotion.
Jees, what do you want? A whole orchard?
thought it would be shoes, vodka.......what a thoughtful person you are ré the grannies - don't they have their own day - they do in the States.
My mum loves hers and man hostages mum loves her flowers too.
Why are flowers a cop out? I love receiving flowers any time.

They are the easy option for me, each to their own
No I'd like flowers, love being given them.
Lol no the shoes are just for me! lol

I have always bought for my Grans, it's just a habit I have got into. I don't know if we have a grandparents day here though,
My mum LOVES flowers.
However, I didnt buy her any today as my sisters and the grandkids all bought her flowers. I got her a dvd that she wanted, a nightie (that she also asked for) choclates and some 'smelly' candles that she always has about her bungalow.
Well, my old dear enjoyed receiving hers. And the chocolates...

Good choice mark
my mother likes hers and has a small florist stand in her hall....
I got the CD I wanted and a bunch of tulips that my 9 yr old daughter was so proud of because she remembered they were my favourite flowers. So yes, flowers on Mothers day were the best thing ever!
I saw an article about fields of daffs going to waste, can any one supply more details
At 11 o'clock this morning you couldn't get near the checkouts at Morrisons for the hordes of young men and boys clutching bunches of flowers, looking as though they were praying for the ground to open up and swallow them. Still, I suppose they still have mothers to buy for, many of us, unfortunately, no longer have.
Seems like another day of celebration has been turned into a spending spree.

Agree douglas, but times have changed, dont want flowers that we can get all year round, including chocolates, feel that their is not much thought put in
My mum loves getting flowers for occasions and loves a nice card.....

However not this year as she is sunning herself on hols....i sneaked a card in suitcase though xx
You could have bought her some flowers, tinks, how inconsiderate.....

And enjoyed them yourself.
If I were your mother Mark, calling me the old dear would result in a good slapping. How condescending.
