There seems a renewed interest in vinyl and I for one deeply regret selling tons in the mid 80s. I have a good turntable, but the price is very expensive - £20 average (a whopping £35 for John Lennon's Plastic ono Band LP!). I have heard all sorts from the price of oil to economies of scale, but apart from the 180g product, some of it is just basic vinyl.

I guess the price reflects the costs, given the low volume production runs on the pressing equipment and the specialist market that is vinyl.

So I won’t be retrieving my old deck from the loft anytime soon.
I suppose it depends what you want to buy. I have all my original vinyl, around 38,000 singles and 10,000 albums and I see people all the time selling whole collections and individual items on ebay and other places. You should be able to get anything you want in the current economic climate for a decent price. Just keep searching, am sure you'll hit on the bargains eventually, and in March the Car Boot Sales will begin, vinyl heaven!
