It is pointless (as is answering this post I suspect) because you will never find the definitive argument/conclusion to the question.

The best you can hope to say is that whether Elvis harboured any racist thoughts, he certainly never seemed to betray them by his actions.

Warlock that's a biased view coming from an Elvis fan which I'll take with a large pinch of salt.
jackthehat so the shoeshine story is the only instance of alleged racism that you've heard of?
The comment is the comment.

It can be interpreted *either* way depending upon your own inclination.......
This is all speculation, that's it in plain black and white.......if it isn't actually documented or recorded, then that it is what iy will be, rumour. He isn't around and it is not really relevant to the enjoyment of his music.
You have a suspicious mind, ringo.
Elvis was not racist.

Is it me or does there seem to be a lot of fence sitting regarding this rumour, one wonders why? I'd hazard a guess that there are many elvis fans here who possibly "Wouldn't" hear his alleged comments even if they were two foot away and he was shouting through a giant megaphone. There's noting wrong with loyalty but lets try and see passed your icon and see the facts or non facts.
I think you may be off the mark assuming we're all Elvis fans.
If you count me as an Elvis fan, then that is a very presumptuous comment - you have a lot to learn about being on AB.

For the record (no pun meant), I am not.

Perhaps the comments made from the AB community reflect opinion at large; once again, that this is not a matter of substance and does not impact on the importance or appreciation of his music.

"many elvis fans here" I never said "ALL" once, this is the 2nd time you seem to have accidentally misquoted me.

And you are not listening to the other posters, ringo are you?
I'm going to morrisons for some pies.

Good luck trying to convince everyone.

Dt, you've jumped on the bandwagon without consulting the facts first, as I said I said MANY not all, please read my posts before commenting about them in future.
if I was "quoting" you, I'd have put it within "quotation marks".

get a grip.
Whilst this issue may dearly matter to you, the rest of us are basing our answers on our impressions of him and his behaviour.

He certainly didn't behave in a racist manner, and if he had done, it is quite possible that we would ascribe that to his upbringing in the *Deep South*....

If you are wanting a more robust exchange of accusation and counter-accusation, I think you'd be better off in either a different section, or a different forum.
in future?

will there be more? I can't wait..
as the person who wants to push the rumours maybe you should provide some strong evidence to support your theory ringoid
Maybe ringoid is one of those berks that think the King is alive, living in New Merxico or Antartica (not much difference as both are remote).
Question Author
I said facts and also non facts Trimeresurus doesn't anyone read my posts before trying to pick an argument about them, or is there much selective reading and understanding going on here?
