Who sang the song `Darling` in the early to mid 1970s? I think it was a white band, probably British or American. It was a bit cheesy but I would like to put it on my ipod for nostalgic reasons.

Thanks folks but it`s not that one. It was someone like Andy Fairweather Low but it wasn`t him. Just that era and that type of genre though.
Rubettes?

I suppose Rubettes is nothing like Angy Fairweather Lowe though.

Was it Cockney Rebel- in Here Comes the Sun they sang like the word Darling a few times I recall

Thanks but it wasn`t that either. It must have been between about 1972 and 1974 because it reminds me of being dragged off to London to see my grandparents when I was young and suffered from car sickness. I`m pretty sure it was a British singer. After reading doc`s thread about Nat King Cole I thought it would be nice to put some nostalgic music on my ipod and this song is one that came into my head for nostalgic reasons.
I've checked my Guiness Book of Hit Singles and we've covered all the 70s top 75 singles containing Darling except for OJays Darlin Darlin Baby.
Was it Loving Spoonful from 1967? They had a song with Darling somewhere in the title
It's not the title but...

Intersting song, tara20- not one I remember. But it doesn't seem like AFL or 1970s to me
Well how about The Beatles? a bit older maybe

Did factor30 have it earlier with the Cockney Rebel cover of "Here Comes The Sun" ...

I hope you are right, ellipsis. I'm surrised it wasnt trankie Miller one though.
Tara20- the Beatles one reminds me of 10cc's Oh Donna
The Beatles released in 1969, -10cc 1972.

I`m no nearer to finding my song. If I do I will let you know. Regarding that clip, I absolutely love Here comes the Sun. I think it was the Beatles best record (along with While my guitar gently weeps). They were both George Harrison songs and I think he never really got the recognition he deserved.
I know Tara. I remember the 10cc one well fom 72. I wasn't suggesting The Beatles copied 10cc! The 10cc track seemed to copy a few oldies including the Beatles one

Did it sound nothing like the Frankie Miller one, then, 237SJ?
I'm not sure what you mean by saying it sounded like Andy Fairweather Lowe- do you mean as in wide eyed and legless, as in the reggae track he had or as in his Amen Corner days?
Question Author
Wasn`t the best song by 10cc I`m not in love? That reminds me of the hot summer of 1975. I think the follow up was I`m Mandy Fly Me if I remember rightly.
