The one our geography master gave to us was "never camp in a wadi". I never have.
What about the airline instruction that in case of a dire emergency, don1t panic. Why not? What better time could there be?

Best recently was a meeting of the Devonshire Association about something highly scientific, way beyond me, attended by lots of Profs. etc. and the compulsory Health & Safety preamble in which the lecturer was required to point out where the doors were in he room, which were the ones we came in. Never would have guessed.
