Pinkilady:
While I'll always stand by the 'right to offend' as an essential part of the 'right to free speech', it's still nice to find that people can eventually 'come together' with a bit of levity.

Thank you for your post.

I'd be interested to know why you feel that way as well, Chris.

I've had many discussions with would-be suicide victims (I'll use that word although I know you won't approve) and I've got to be honest - I've never heard of the organisation you mentioned, nor have I spoken to anyone with quite the same point of view as you (although I've come across something similar).
And a bit of thoughtfulness and consideration.

I truly believe that if you haven't grieved Chris....you haven't ever truly loved someone. And maybe never been truly loved. I know my Dad hung on to spend an extra day with me and the kids. To tell me he loved me....to give me a kiss and cuddle...

It's sad...

I think Chris has made it clear he wants to drop it, pinki. I think we can consider it "case closed".

I'm 'caught between two stools' here.

I deliberately started this thread in response to a request for something cheerful, so I feel reluctant to change the way that it should be going. But I also feel an obligation to answer some of the questions. All I'll say at this time is that I stand by my belief in 'survival of the fittest' and also in the 'right to offend'. (As an atheist, I find Ummmm's avatar deeply offensive but I would defend to my death his/her right to use it).

Yes, Mrs C, it's probably best that this should be regarded as 'case closed'. (While I defend my right to offend, I can't see any point in doing it ad nauseam. It doesn't contribute anything new).

It's late and I'm off to bed. And if anyone hasn't viewed the video above, I strongly commend it as it's a great way of 'lightening up'!).

My philosophy is that I'll be happy to 'talk' to anyone, irrespective of whether they agree with me or not, so (with that in mind) I'll wish EVERYONE who has 'conversed' with me tonight (even if we've disagreed strongly) a very good night, with hopes that you sleep well and enjoy the bank holiday tomorrow.

Goodnight all.
Goodnight Chris. Sleep well. x

Crossed posts there, Pinkilady.

As I've said, I'm off to bed but I find the need to explain 'survival of the fittest' rather odd. It simpler means that those who can't stand the heat in the kitchen should get out of it . (If you need further explanation, please ask again, on another thread at a later date. I'm not trying to 'back out' or, conversely, to 'sh!t stir'. I simply need to go to bed!)'

Goodnight!

Yes, sorry about that - changes of lifestyle etc. hope you are well x
Goodnight pinki, and thanks again for making ME smile!
I agree with Sir Alec. I was having a great time on here until the nasty stuff started.
I have not seen any of the nasty stuff. Looks like I've had a lucky escape from some of the posts on here.
