Hello to all.
We are soon to move off a very busy main road, and the removal lorry will have to park on this main road, so i think that some kind of traffic control will be needed, can anyone tell me if the highways agency, or the local council provide this? if so, who organises this? and would we have to foot the bill for it?
Many thanks for any help on this one.

we had a big delivery at our office and the police came and put cones out, and collected them later that day. they were very good about it (no charge) and referred to the person doing the job as "the cone fairy"!

"they'll just appear in the morning and magically disappear in the evening".
best of luck :o)
The Highways Agency is only responsible for these roads:

Everything else comes under your county/unitary/metropolitan council. Their highways department might like to be told about the potential obstruction to the road but, in practice, as Sara3 indicates, it's the Traffic Section of your local police force which might be the most interested (and, possibly, the most helpful).

Thank you Sara3 i will be contacting the cone fairies tomorrow. lol
And thank you Chris, the link is most helpful.
Don't ask for the Cone fairy, not all forces have a sense of humour !
Is that John Major's cones hotline?
By now you will of moved (Hope you are enjoying your new house) but actually it would be the removals company to sort alll that out.

Wish you'd moved next door to me... could do with a neighbour who thinks of others!
