Following on from an earlier question:

http://www.theanswerb.../Question1074615.html

Anyone know the minimum number of points that can be scored in order to win a frame of snooker? (Warning, like the riddle which overtook the earlier question, it involves a bit of highly theoretical play!).

22 is my guess but not sure of all the rules of the game.

All the balls add up to 42 so draw would be 21-21 so a win would be 22-20.
I'll go 17
I come to the table trailing 4-14, my opponent having potted all 15 reds and then gone in-off, but subsequently (and having retired with a large sum of cash for the greatest fluke in snooker history) after subsequently having cleared to the pink
And I pot the remaining balls to win 17-14.
However, no doubt there is a lower answer...

You're on the right lines, ichkeria, and almost there, but you're just making it a tad too complex.
Well if you include retiring then surely you can win without scoring any points.

Times up! (and I’m off out for a Ruby).

No, although I hadn’t discounted retiring in my question, ll_billym, it wasn’t the answer I was looking for.

The answer is 16. Player One comes to the table (with no score on the scoreboard for either player). He pots all fifteen reds off one stroke but goes in off (I had warned you!). So, no points for him, four to his opponent and all the reds are gone. The remaining 27 for the colours can then be split however you like so that one player reaches 16, and the other 15.
Christ - this is getting perverted!

Sorry DT!

It's only a laugh. The sort of thing you could put a fiver on after your mates have had a few in the pub (if you can remember the ridiculous answer yourself, that is !!!)

BTW DT, I like the "16 point" shot you gave details of in the other question. Another one for a small wager in the boozer !!!

To think you suggested my 16 point winning total scenario was perverted !!!
I'm only joking!
I have a lovely geography one, NJ..... and very bettable

The Most Northerly US State?
The Most Southerly?
The Most Westerly?
The Most Easterly?

All 50 states by the way, and not the "contiguous"
all are Alaska except the most southerly which is Hawaii.
Your solution's the same as mine, NJ, except that I had the loser potting the brown and not the pink.
Either way, a good question, tks.
All 15 off one shot, can't see that happening.
Unlike my break of 8 when i potted the yellow 4 times, how did I manage that?
after a foul there is one red left but you are snookered on it. So you pot the yellow as a free ball red, then the yellow then the red then the yellow as a colour then the yellow again as part of going through the colours. 1+2+1+2+2=8
