I want to tax my car ready for when I hopefully pass my driving test on the 29th March so I don't have to faff around on the day doing it. The car is not insured at the moment. I have tried to get tax online but I says the car needs to be insured, I didn't know that, I knew it had to be MOT'd. Is it possible to get tax before I insure the car or am I just going to have to wait? TIA

You're just going to have to wait.

Okey dokey, not a problem, I have just thought of reason why it's better to wait anyway. :-) If I have the misfortune of failing my test again, I will have wasted a whole month!
You'll have to wait. Both on-line and at the post office you will need insurance.
Good thinking. *IF* you fail, you'll just have a car sitting waiting for you that you cant' drive.

Good luck with the test!
Well he can drive it if he has a full license holder in the car.
Yes, but not if it isn't insured and taxed.
you will probably have to waste a whole months worth anyway if you are getting it on the 29th - wait till he 1st April
it is much harder to pass these days - especially if you are a teen or early 20s male, and the examiners are looking for the slightest thing to fail you on....
an examiner told me this...he said there are too many drivers on the road who just mangaed to get through a 35 min test without messing up, but really are not good enough to be driving alone...and it frustrated them because they cant stop it...so anything they can fail you on, they will...
i was failed on one test because i looked out of the back window on a manouvre only 4-5 times...a few more looks and id have passed he told me...i was furious obviously.

you also dont know who else on the road could cause a problem for you

so like you say best waiting
Hi Benny, just a bit of advise although you may already know, I hope your car is not on the Public Highway! if there is no insurance on the car you are illegal.
No benny, when you tax the car on line the site goes away and checks that you have MOT and insurance - it won't let you tax it otherwise.
