Car Tracking devices

I am considering buying one for my car, so I know where it is at all times, preferably by computer and smartphone.
I know nothing about them and the prices vary tremendously.
If I purchase one, are there ongoing costs? How reliable are they?
Can anybody recommend one?

HC, the car I have DID have a Tracker but the contract has now ended, I asked my insurance what difference the tracker would make to my Premium ( NIL) was their answer, to my reply, I dare not say it on here.

Oh. It's not just for insurance purposes though. How much did it cost you?

Hi, I believe the person that had mine installed cost him £300, but that was 10yrs ago, before you consider it check with your insurance to what cost would your premium be reduced.

If you have an expensive car I would check the tracker covers the rest of Europe. These thieves can put it in a sealed container and have it shipped abroad before you wake up in the morning.

Rov, how do you work this out, I phoned my Insurance regards the Tracker & explained the type that was fitted into the car including the device fitted by the car makers, they where not interested in any reduced premium on my behalf, I will be changing my Insures come April if that's their policy on security.

think you guys have missed the point, he wants to track the vehicle not neccessarily for anti theft

I did it , i just couldn't believe what i found out.


i was gobsmacked... twice round the same roundabout, and i could have cut at least 3 miles of the route she took.
