Go shopping for a few snacky things, but not even bother to get the things your family and you need such as sugar and milk OR go to your child's award night where they were going to get at least one certificate for effort and achievment in the previous year aswell as their gcse certificates?

It's a tough choice I know . . . .

You know what the answer for most people will be Molly.

I'm sure there will be more to the story....
I hate award evenings
So do I to be honest Cazzzzz....I'd rather skip it and buy them a 'well done' present.
yep..me too
Well......there is food involved!!!

Would they be giving refreshments at the award night?

I agree it is a tough one :-)
As much as I loathe shopping.. I'd rather have an evening in Sainsburys than an interminable chore of attending an award evening.....

shopping for snacky things without a doubt

Only a stupid excuse umm.

My dad got called out to work, but it was only resetting a firealarm which takes him a couple of minutes(plus five mins travelling each way). This was at 6.20 ish, and the place he had to go to was only a mile away from the school. We left the house at 6.30 and at one point were behind him, we thought that he was going to the school, in his van (which he's allowed to do if he's on-call) but at a set of traffic lights, he turned a completely random way and we couldn't figure out where he was going, you can get to the school that way but it adds another couple of miles onto the journey, and anyway thats a way he's never been. It wasn't even the way he'd go to get to any of the other places he has to work at. This was at about 6.35. We did think he could be going to get some petrol, but there's a place that he would have passed to get to where he was called out to. We then didn't see him until we got home. However, the ceremony started at 7 (but they preferedd if you got there between 6.45 and 6.50) - which dad could have done. But he decided to get petrol from this more out of the way place and then because he couldn't be bothered to go to the ceremony, he decided to go shopping. Yet he only got; crackers, cheese (a kind only he eats), biscuits and pepsi, and non of the stuff thats on the board of things we need! And then he went home.

Ratter there were refreshments there.
But your Mum went?
Question Author
Yeah, we'd even booked a seat for him because he said he'd go.
So who's 'we'? Were you in the car with your mum?
Sorry, cross posted.
I dont think my dad ever went to any of my schools for anything

he sounds like a sensible chap, reminds me of when i was supposed to go and watch a mate in this play, i got sidetracked and didn;t get home for a couple of days, she wasn;t best pleased with me!
Nor did mine...

Although he did take me to my dancing and swimming lessons each week.
none of my family ever went to school events...they didn't think it was as important as staying in and watching tv... it happens Molly...you just need to learn not to care...or the hurt niggles away at you after a while...At least your mum went....and more importantly you were there

But he said he'd go and he got us to book a seat for him and then he made excuses at the last minute.
